In Response to Rachelle Beaudoin's post on toothpaste
Every day on television I see at least 3 different commercials for 3 different kind of toothpaste. Rachelle is absolutely right about there being way too many kinds of toothpaste in our society. Each company trying to out do the other one or target a certain market whether it be young kids with just their favorite cartoon characters on the outside or adults that want whiter teeth. As Rachelle says there should be a survey of some sort to eliminate some of the 352 different kinds of toothpaste out there because it just doesn't seem practical to have that many when really they are all pretty much the same thing.
March Madness!!!!!!!!!
As march approaches and the basketball season for colleges come towards the end, the greatest tournament of the year for me to watch is the Division 1 college basketball tournament otherwise known as "March Madness". Every year I watch this tournament on T.V. from beginning to end with one game on T.V. and 4 or more scores to other games in the corner of the T.V. The tournament is always on CBS and they are the only network to broadcast the games so you can only watch one game at a time which isn't as much fun as switching back and forth to games if they were on T.V. This year for the first time ever every single game of the tournament will be on T.V. as they have joined with TNT, TBS, and Tru T.V. to bring the spectators every game on T.V. The NCAA has decided to expand the T.V. broadcasts so that we can watch every game and we'll know that if our favorite team is playing that they will be on T.V. on one channel. The big dance is going to be fantastic this year as they have been advertising it since November and it always lives up to its hype with every game being exciting, i cannot wait for the madness to start. Have you heard or seen any advertisement for this tournament?

Response to Kelsey Rhodes-Social Media? A good way to advertise?
After reading Kelsey's post and seeing the great possibilites that facebook and twitter have for small businesses it made me come to think that a restaurant like Country Life should take full action these. These sites are free and easy to use and pose a great way of advertising and promotion to a very wide market that is online alot. A simple facebook page may draw in 10 new customers and it may seem small but that is 10 more that came in the day before or each week. The society we live in today is always on the computer or some sort of technology and advertising this way can be a great tool

Presidents Day Annual Car Sale
Each year all car and truck manufacturers have the biggest sales of the year on Presidents day. For the past two weeks all car commercials have been about the huge savings you can make on buying a new car in this specific time period of Presidents to mid March or so. They spend millions of dollars on advertising, marketing, commercials, anything they can do to spread the word of this blowout deal on cars or trucks is out there. The real question is though are we really getting the best deal? Some people think and I am starting to wonder that all dealerships raise their prices ever so slightly to make it seem as if were getting all this money off on a new car when really were maybe getting it for a grand or two less than the sticker value. What do you think is actually is going on behind the scenes of a dealership during these huge blowout savings?

School Sporting Events
As a college student here at Keene State now and played sports all my life through highshcool attending a game here doesn't feel like it would be a college sporting event. All the time you see college basketball games or football games and the fans are crazy and pack the gym or stadium and here only a few games are packed to the house when it should be every game. Even though we are only division 3 there are many schools around the country who have the same mentality as the division 1 students do. Now to tie this in with marketing I feel as the game should be marketed and advertised better around the school. The only way to know if there is a game is if its on the board in front of gym or you check online. More boards around the campus would be a start as also I think we should have more themed games such as a whiteout or blackout. If they would advertise more and do different events for us the students at each game I think more and more students would go and being an athlete it is the best when the gym or stadiums are packed with screaming fans. Would you attend more sporting events if this was the case?
Reponse to Chris Cole's- Social Activities
After reading Chris's post about Keene State's Winter Weekend i realized that that was the first time I had even known that it happened or was happening. Either way like Chris states in his post it was not advertised as I had not heard about it as many of my friends didn't either. Winter weekend could be a big event for this school I feel if it was marketed well and Chris's statement about targeting us as students here has to be the main priority for a weekend like this.

Way too many Valentines day commercials!
Now that we have reached the time of the year where valentines day is getting closer we see commercials on every channel marketing it. Any possible jewelry store will have at least one commercial on marketing to us to buy diamonds or some sort of jewelry for our girlfriend or wife. Each year they come out with new commercials saying how great it is to buy something for your wife or girlfriend that cost a fortune. They advertise love and happiness when they show the wife or girlfriend receiving their gift. All companies today promoting gifts and jewelry for valentines day use the simple way of advertising to spread the word of how great this day can be. They promote to us that happiness and showing love has no price tag on it as many consumers spend hundreds of dollars on buying something that will be worth not very much in a few years.
After seeing tons and tons of these commercials i believe tha valentines day is a special day of the year for couples but I think that gifts and jewelry will not buy happiness or love. The marketing mix is used and applied by all companies marketing this one day of the year and tends to work each year as many of us buy buy gifts or jewelry for someone we like.
